Sometimes you need to see a doctor or nurse without anyone knowing about it. Doctors and practice nurses are trained to keep things confidential. But if you are worried you can always ask them about confidentiality before you talk to them in detail about your concerns and needs. If you really don’t want to see your family doctor, a new scheme being trialled that gives you the option to see any GP or nurse – no questions asked. It’s called “It’s Confidential” and it’s only available in Nelson and Tasman. It works like this:
